Doctor-led preventative health assessment

Foundational Health Assessment

Know where your health stands — and what to do next.

When you feel well, it is easy to keep putting your own health off—particularly when work, family and daily responsibilities take priority.

The Foundational Health Assessment gives you a clear, connected view of your health now: what looks reassuring, what deserves attention, what should be watched and where to focus next.

Your pathology, cardiovascular health, physical capacity, lifestyle and preventative screening are considered together by a doctor who has time to understand your history, circumstances and priorities. You leave with clear answers, practical next steps, a personalised, data-driven plan and a meaningful health baseline that can be tracked from year to year.

Is the Foundational Health Assessment right for you?

There is rarely an obvious deadline for having a thorough health assessment when nothing feels wrong. But there are times when understanding where you stand becomes more important.

Perhaps it has been several years since your last thorough assessment. Your family history, workload or circumstances may have changed. You may have spent so much time looking after work and family that your own health has quietly moved down the list—or you may simply want greater confidence that you understand your health properly.

You do not need to wait for symptoms or a health concern to want clearer answers. The Foundational Health Assessment is designed for the point when you want to understand what matters, address what needs attention and establish a baseline while you are well.

Looking after your health helps you remain capable, present and able to keep showing up for the people and things that matter most.

You want to understand your current health and establish a meaningful baseline.

You want cardiovascular, metabolic and physical capacity considered together.

You want a personalised, data-driven assessment that considers cardiovascular and metabolic health, physical capacity and lifestyle together.

You want clear recommendations, follow-up and a way to track progress over time.

Not sure which assessment is appropriate? Our team can help you choose the level of assessment that best suits your priorities.

A clearer picture of your health

Your pathology, medical and family history, physical-capacity measures, exercise results and clinical examination are interpreted together. This allows the team to identify current concerns, recognise emerging risks and explain which areas deserve attention.

Understand your baseline

Establish measures of body composition, grip strength, balance, mobility and cardiovascular fitness.

Focus on prevention and early detection

Consider cardiovascular risk, cancer screening, dementia risk and mental health so appropriate action can begin earlier.

Leave with a clear plan

Receive an integrated report, practical recommendations and follow-up for any additional investigations.

What your assessment involves

Each stage contributes to one integrated clinical picture and a practical prevention plan.

01

Before your appointment

Pathology and preparation

Complete your blood tests during the four days before your assessment. This timing allows the doctor to review your results and request additional tests if a finding requires clarification.

  • Medical-history information completed before the visit
  • Preparation guidance supplied by the clinic
  • Pathology available for integrated review during the consultation
02

Approximately 45–60 minutes

Exercise physiology, nutrition and physical capacity

An exercise physiologist with additional nutrition training reviews your diet, current exercise, physical goals and the factors affecting your ability to make sustainable changes.

  • Body composition, including muscle, fat and an estimated bone measure
  • Grip strength, balance, mobility, flexibility and functional movement
  • Review of current exercise and dietary habits
  • Individual recommendations aligned with your health and goals
03

During your physical-capacity assessment

Treadmill Exercise Stress Test

The treadmill assessment examines how your heart responds to exercise and may identify findings that warrant further cardiac investigation. It also provides an estimate of cardiorespiratory fitness, including estimated VO₂ max.

The Foundational Health Assessment provides a treadmill-based estimate of VO₂ max. VO₂ max assessment with a CardioCoach mask is included in the Signature and Foresight Health Assessments.

04

In-depth doctor consultation

Doctor consultation and physical examination

Your doctor integrates your pathology, exercise findings, medical and family history, personal concerns and sources of stress.

  • Cardiovascular and metabolic risk, including blood pressure, cholesterol and lipoprotein(a)
  • Mental health, relevant cancer screening and dementia-risk reduction
  • Top-to-toe physical examination and discussion of priorities
  • Assessment for peripheral vascular disease and examination of the heart and lungs
  • Visual skin examination and breast and cervical screening test, or testicular examination, where clinically appropriate
  • Recommendations for additional pathology, imaging or specialist review where clinically appropriate. These may include CT Coronary Angiography, Mammogram, Bone Density Scan, Hepatic Elastography to assess liver stiffness and possible liver damage, and other investigations based on individual findings and risk.
05

After your assessment

Integrated report and follow-up

You receive an integrated report of approximately eight pages, bringing together your exercise and dietary recommendations, your doctor’s interpretation, key risks, clinical priorities, any further investigations and practical next steps.

  • Follow-up of additional investigations ordered during your assessment is included in the assessment price
  • The team will contact you or arrange a phone consultation when discussion is needed
  • Your Exercise Physiologist contacts you at approximately three months
  • Where indicated, two follow-up Body Composition Analysis appointments with an Exercise Physiologist are included during the year to review progress, support accountability and help refine your recommendations.

Total appointment time: approximately 1.5–2 hours

Designed to track your health over time

The Foundational Health Assessment is typically repeated annually. Your first assessment establishes a detailed baseline; future assessments show how important results are changing over time.

Measures such as cholesterol, body composition, grip strength, balance and cardiorespiratory fitness can be displayed graphically from year to year. This makes progress easier to recognise, highlights areas beginning to move in the wrong direction and provides an additional level of accountability.

The aim is not simply to complete a collection of tests once. It is to build a clearer, evolving picture of your health and adjust your prevention plan as your results change. Where indicated, two follow-up Body Composition Analysis appointments with an Exercise Physiologist are included during the year to review progress, support accountability and help refine your recommendations.

See progress

Recognise where changes to exercise and nutrition are producing measurable improvement.

Identify changes early

See when important measures begin moving in the wrong direction and respond sooner.

Maintain accountability

Use annual comparison, the three-month Exercise Physiology contact and two follow-up Body Composition Analysis appointments where indicated to stay engaged with your plan.
